Raising Young Voices in Schools!

Last month, Viva Network Zimbabwe visited 3 schools in Chitungwiza to support the School Child Protection Committees (SCPCs) that we are helping set up with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

These student-led groups are making a big difference! They help report and respond to child protection issues like bullying, drug use, and abuse. At schools like Zengeza 4 High and BnP Study Centre, students are speaking out — some even stopped abuse before it got worse.

👥 At BnP Study Centre, 10 active students lead the SCPC, guided by Scripture Union, the Junior Council, and teachers.

👩🏽‍🏫 Zengeza 4 has 52 trained students working hand-in-hand with 4 dedicated teachers. They meet weekly to support classmates and spread awareness.

📢 But there’s still a long way to go.

🔸 Students need visibility tools like t-shirts, badges, and posters.
🔸 Many SCPC members are bullied or not taken seriously.
🔸 Some schools lack proper training on how to handle cases.
🔸 One child can’t sit for exams due to missing documents — and we’re pushing for urgent help.

✊🏾 We believe every child should be protected, empowered, and heard. But we can’t do this alone.

👉🏾Support our work. Help us train, equip, and protect these young leaders. Let’s make schools safer — together.
